Welcome to Ontario Graphic Communications Training Centre (OGCTC).

We provide a skilled, knowledgeable, and capable workforce for the unionized graphic arts industry. Training was always emphasized by our industry leaders, so it was not surprising that in 1966 they established the Canadian Graphic Arts Institute at 19 Duncan Street in downtown Toronto as a foundation for strong labour and management relations in the graphic arts industry.

In 1992 we changed our name, our aims and objectives remained the same. Our Training Centre is high tech with much state-of-the-art sophisticated equipment. We work directly with equipment manufacturers, dealers and suppliers searching for the most up-to-date information available. Our apprentices are provided with classroom training, and with hands-on training to support classroom lectures and discussions that produces competency and pride that lead to true craftsmanship.

In addition to providing quality apprenticeship training, we are committed to developing and providing skills upgrade training to keep the Journeyperson-level workforce as current and up-to-date as possible in the newest technologies and methods.

Our instructors are full-time professionals working in their branch of the trade, teaching at the Centre in their off hours. Our modern and attractive facility prides itself on instructor demonstration and hands-on learning in: Electronic Pre-Press; Pre-Press Proofing; Computer-to-Plate (CTP) technologies; Platemaking; Presswork (Sheetfed and Web-Offset); Binding and Finishing. Courses as described on this site are available exclusively to C. E. P. members in good standing. In addition to the listings on this site, we are also able to provide customized training based on a company’s particular needs. Call us.

We are a non-profit corporation for the benefit of our C. E. P. members at no expense to the tax paying public. Our mandate, our staffing and our space does not allow us to be a training facility for the general public. The is a non-profit corporation funded by contributing employers and governed by a Joint Board of Trustees representing the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada, Local 591G and Management from The Industry.
