WHAT IS THE EFAP? Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Employee and Family Assistance Programme. The EFAP is a programme set up to help you and your family with every day problems that get in the way of a happier, more fulfilled life at work or at home. WHY HAVE AN EFAP? In today’s stressful world many problems can affect our personal lives. They can have an impact on our work, our family, our friends and our health. We have all experienced these difficulties or have known someone affected by problems. Most of us need just a little help to get through some difficult circumstances. The EFAP will lend a hand to help you. ACCOUNTABILITY? The EFAP is accountable to The Board of Trustees of the CEP Graphical Benefit Plan of Ontario. HOW DOES THE EFAP WORK? Counselors: The EFAP Staff are trained, professional Counselors who will talk with you individually to help sort out your problems. If further long term or specialized treatment is required, the counselor will help you obtain the services you need. EFAP Representatives: EFAP representatives are volunteers who have participated in training and have the support of their union and employer. They can assist you with information you need about the EFAP and encourage you to get the help you need. The name of the EFAP representative for your city will be posted in your workplace.
WHAT TYPES OF PROBLEMS WILL EFAP COUNSELORS HELP WITH? Stress and emotional difficulties Relationship problems Marital and family issues Substance abuse (alcohol, drugs) Financial matters
